| | This weeks feature
Blake, the award-winning classical boyband are releasing their long-awaited second album And So It Goes on 29th September. Their debut album, Blake, went straight in at No.1 in the UK classical album chart and hit the Top 20 in the UK pop album chart. Achieving gold sales status in just three weeks after release, this subsequently catapulted the boys to a stunning success at the Classical Brits Awards 2008 where they won ‘Album of the Year’ as voted for by the public. Their second album And So It Goes looks to build on the band’s remarkable success in capturing the hearts of a devoted and fast growing audience. Featuring a range of songs from Time To Say Goodbye to Up Where We Belong and Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars, the album showcases the passion and virtuosity of four very talented British boys.
Blake are Stephen Bowman, Jules Knight, Dom Tighe and Ollie Baines. They all trained as choristers and after meeting on Facebook just 18 months ago, quickly realised that together they had something uniquely special to offer music lovers. Their soaring harmonies, youthful energy and genuine charm touched a chord with a wide range of fans who quickly identified with the Blake sound as something fresh and distinct, almost redolent of the Beach Boys with its harmonies and vibes, and yet operatic in some of its crescendos.
The new album has been described as one of the most awaited musical events of 2008. Fans will not be disappointed.

WILL MARTINWill Martin is set to be the singing sensation of 2008. Hailed as ''the Kiwi Josh Groban'' and ''the Classical Jamie Cullum'' Will''s stunning debut album ''A New World'' is an epic collection of classical crossover songs. ''A New World'', reflects Will''s origin and the dramatic, spectacular landscapes of his native New Zealand. ‘A New World’ has been released in New Zealand and has already gone double platinum and went straight into the pop charts at No.2!
"I am an entertainer; I sing, I can play the piano and I love performing. I want to bring an entertainment factor to this kind of music because it has never really been done before. I intend to rock out with a big orchestra behind me. I want to be real. I want to misbehave and I want to reach people"
Songs include the ‘Into the West’ the theme song from Lord of the Rings (originally sung by Annie Lennox), Going Home taken from Dvorak’s ‘New World Symphony’ (made famous by the Hovis TV commercials) and ‘Over the Hills’ the classic folk song used in the TV series Sharpe. All have been given an epic orchestral kick, and contrast beautifully with subtle takes on Nat King Cole’s ‘Nature Boy’ and the heartbreaking version of Michael Nyman’s ‘If’, to produce one of the most exciting debut albums in years.

BRYN TERFELWelsh bass-baritone Bryn Terfel bestrides today’s music scene like a colossus. Having been at the very top of his profession for not far short of two decades, he is revered not only as one of the world’s finest opera singers, but also as a superb interpreter of Lieder and art songs, and he brings more persuasive panache than any other to the great show songs. For the latest in a remarkable line of albums, he returns to his First Love. For First Love, Bryn revisits the traditional songs of the British Isles that could be found among his earliest vocal repertoire.
Here Terfel explores the whole of Britain with 17 songs that amount to a musical travelogue of our beautiful collection of countries. Ireland is depicted in five lovely songs: Carrickfergus, Molly Malone, My Lagan Love (featuring Sharon Corr), She Moved Through The Fair and, most famous of them all, Danny Boy, in which he is joined in duet by none other than Irish Boyzone singer Ronan Keating! Views of Scotland are provided by Loch Lomond, My Love Is Like A Red, Red Rose and Ae Fond Kiss, and Bryn crosses the border to the North East for Blow The Wind Southerly and Scarborough Fair. Here he is joined by the Kathleen Ferrier Award-winning soprano Kate Royal. And he could hardly have chosen a more appealing quartet of other English songs than O Waly, Waly, The Turtle Dove, Edward Purcell’s sweet 19th century setting of Herrick’s poem Passing By and - surely one of the most moving and sincere love-songs of our time - folk-singer Ewan MacColl’s The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. With Cariad Cyntaf, Marwnad Yr Ehedydd and, especially, I Am Dreaming Of The Mountains Of My Home, Bryn sings of his native Wales as only he can.
Here is the best of British song from the best of British voices - the British Isles can seldom have been presented as more musically beguiling.
