Crosby-Nash, a good double set. | The celestial harmonies of David Crosby and Graham Nash…
were the most distinctive feature of Seventies supergroup Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and, though a little ragged round the edges, the unique combination shines through the duo's double CD 'Crosby-Nash' (Sanctuary).
It's the first Crosby-Nash album of original material in nearly 30 years, but there is a seamless joint between such songs of quiet yearning as 'Lay Me Down' and the genteel protest of 'They Want It All' - an attack on corporate greed - and their early work as part of CSNY. Several duff tracks, most notably the McCartney-esque plodder 'Puppeteer', suggest that, with some judicial pruning, this could have been an especially fine single album rather than a pretty good double set. |
