Only Men Aloud

Only Men Aloud! stepped into the national spotlight when they were selected from more than a thousand choirs around the UK to audition for the BBC show Last Choir Standing. They cruised through the elimination rounds, capturing the hearts of the nation with their stunning performances. In the final Only Men Aloud! produced a goose bump rendering rendition of ‘All By Myself’ and were voted the Last Choir Standing and took the title of ‘Britain’s Favourite Choir’.

Only Men Aloud! recently finished recording their stunning self titled debut album which is out now. It reflects the choir’s own eclectic musical tastes combining modern pop and musical theatre tracks such as All By Myself, Angels, Bridge Over Troubled Water and Don’t Rain On My Parade with more traditional songs such as Cwm Rhondda and Albinoni''s Adagio.

All these tracks are given the Only Men Aloud! treatment with the beautiful harmonies and epic crescendos that made the public fall in love with them and that will be sure to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

The Royal Scotts Dragoon Guards

Spirit Of The Glen: Journey

The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards have made the first ever commercial recording from the frontline of a warzone. Producer Jon Cohen and A&R Manager Tom Lewis visited the pipers and took a mobile recording unit out to the British base in Basra.

In stark contrast to the commercial luxuries often associated with the music industry, Spirit of the Glen: Journey was recorded in a tent in one of the hottest and most dangerous countries in the world. As well as the constant threat of rocket attack, the producer worked to prevent his recording gear overheating in the 50 degree heat. After recording, the pipers went back to their crucial military jobs. As Lieutenant Colonel Felix Gedney explained, “It’s important for them not to forget that they are not a band for me. They’re my tank gunner, my lorry driver, my signals operator. I see them very much as soldiers first.”

The new album, Spirit of the Glen: Journey, features Abide With Me, In Flanders Field and Dawning of the Day, all recorded in Basra. In addition, the piper on Flowers of the Forest was recorded at the end of the runway with the hum of Basra audible in the background, over which Jim Naughtie will read the poem For The Fallen.

It would be difficult to find a more emotional, visceral - or dangerous - record in the marketplace this Christmas.

Lesley Garrett

Lesley’s new album ''Amazing Grace'', is a beautiful collection of sacred songs which is out now. For Lesley, the album has a universal spirituality and is the album that she has always wanted to make. “It’s divine stuff,” she says. “I’ve always been profoundly aware, when I perform, that I am basically the vessel for a much higher spirit.  I’m just a conduit for it.” She adds: “It’s given me enormous pleasure to have finally made what is essentially a choral album, because choral singing was such a big part of my background, growing up in Yorkshire."

Josh Groban - Royal Variety Performance / New Album

143 Records / Reprise are pleased to announce the December 1st release of "Josh Groban: A Collection" a 2-CD set that includes the bonus Christmas album, "Noel", featuring the festive songs ''Silent Night'', ''Little Drummer Boy'' and ''Ave Maria''. The 2-CD set coincides with Groban''s promotional trip to the UK on December 1st and his performance at this year''s ''Royal Variety Performance'' television special on BBC1.

Celebrating its 80th anniversary, this year''s Royal Variety Performance will be filmed at the London Palladium on Thursday 11 December. Groban will appear alongside Take That, the Pussycat Dolls and Rihanna.  Josh will also perform on GMTV (1 Dec), Loose Women (2 Dec) and BBC1''s National Lottery Show (20 Dec).  Radio interviews include Smooth, Magic and Classic FM.

Grammy-nominated Josh Groban is a global phenomenon with 25 million album sales behind him, yet in the UK his adoration is limited to those in the know. This past summer, he blew people away when he performed at the Nelson Mandela 90th Birthday Celebration in London''s Hyde Park.

Still only 27, "A Collection" highlights Josh Groban''s undeniable talent and the songs that have made him one of the biggest selling male recording and performing artists in America. ''A Collection'' includes Josh''s version of ''You Raise Me Up'', the first version of the song to have become a major hit before it was later covered by Westlife, ''Anthem'', recorded live as a special anniversary performance of Chess at the Royal Albert Hall and ''To Where You Are'', performed before a global audience at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert.

To celebrate the release of the album, and Groban''s forthcoming promotional visit to the UK, an exclusive online promotion will be hosted on www.joshgrobanmusic.com, giving five people the chance to win an iPod Nano. Each iPod is pre-loaded with Groban''s entire back catalogue including the albums ''Josh Groban'', ''Closer'', ''Awake'' and ''Noel''.
