October Road is a collection of songs showing Taylor’s songwriting craft to good effect.

Some have a political/humanitarian message, as in Belfast to Boston; others are cleverly put-together pieces that bring a smile to your face. Mean Old Man is one example.

While there is, for me, nothing in James Taylor’s catalogue to match Sweet Baby James, this album is well worth listening to; the more you listen the more you’ll find in it to impress.
