My Brilliant Divorce

DILLIE KEANE stars in the hilarious Olivier Award nominated MY BRILLIANT DIVORCE

Milton Keynes Theatre, Wednesday 27 – Saturday 30 August

MY BRILLIANT DIVORCE comes to Milton Keynes Theatre for a limited run from Wednesday 27 - Saturday 30 August. The show is a hilarious one-woman tour de force and a perfect choice for much loved comedienne Dillie Keane.

Bizarre dates, suspect purchases, a near reconciliation with the ex, then a singles ‘away weekend’ in the Welsh Hills brings about a surprise meeting and maybe some hope…

Wittily observant, side-splittingly funny and heart-breakingly realistic, the play explores what life is like for Angela Lipsky when her husband has a mid-life crisis and a mid-European affair.  She finds herself adrift in a sea of shifty solicitors, a disapproving mother, a series of phone-in helplines, Christmas all on her own and her self-confidence at an all time low.  Should she fight to keep her husband? Or should she sign the final papers and move on?

“As irresistible as a chocolate truffle …. a sweet surprise” - The Mail on Sunday

“ … great jokes but there are also sudden shafts of piercing emotional truth… a small masterpiece” - The Daily Telegraph

This achingly funny and heart-wrenchingly poignant play was nominated for ‘Best Entertainment’ at the Oliviers in 2004 after playing a sell-out season in the West End.

Dillie Keane stars as Angela. Best known as a founding member of comedy cabaret trio Fascinating Aida.  Dillie''s many theatre credits include Me and My Girl, The Vagina Monologues, Charley''s Aunt and Grumpy Old Women.

Angela’s journey will touch the heart of anyone who has ever broken up.

“Geraldine Aron’s script is absolutely gorgeous… Marvellous, grounded warmth and humour and it ripples with wonderful tiny moments” - The Scotsman

“Compassionate, insightful and extremely funny” - The Irish Times

My Brilliant Divorce is directed by Tim Luscombe, one of our foremost directors whose credits include much of Noel Coward’s work in the West End including ‘Private Lives, Relative Values and Semi Monde.  He has worked across the globe and directed Helen Hayes in ‘Artist Descending a Staircase’ on Broadway. The production is designed by Michael Holt, with lighting by Hansjorg Schmidt and sound by Matthew Bugg.

UK stage tour of ’Allo ’Allo

VICKI MICHELLE & JEFFREY HOLLAND TO LEAD UK STAGE TOUR OF ’ALLO ’ALLO

What do you get when you cross a French Café owner, a German Commandant, the Gestapo, two clueless British airmen, an all-female resistance, a British spy posing as a Police Office, a camp German Lieutenant, with, amusing fake French accents and a large serving of sexual innuendo?...

Calibre Productions, the producers behind the acclaimed £2million box office success of ‘Dad’s Army – The Lost Episodes’, return to present a brand new stage adaptation of the hit British sitcom ‘ALLO ‘ALLO this autumn.

The cast of 16 will be led by Jeffrey Holland as the hapless French Café owner, Rene Artois and original series member Vicki Michelle, who will don her French waitress outfit once more in the role of Yvette Carte-Blanche.

Well known for his roles in television sitcoms including ‘Hi-de-Hi!’, ‘You Rang M’Lord?’ and ‘Oh Doctor Beeching’ as well as BBC Radio comedy, including Week Ending, Jeffrey Holland is excited by the prospect of starring in the stage tour and comments, “Of all David Croft’s television comedies, ‘ALLO, ‘ALLO is the only one in which I have never appeared and I’m delighted to taking part in the stage adaptation, playing the iconic Rene Artois in what is possibly one of television’s funniest comedies. Gordon Kaye will certainly be a hard act to follow. I am also pleased to be appearing alongside my old friend Vicki once more.”

Having recently made an appearance on Celebrity Masterchef, which is to be aired on Thursday, 3 July, Vicki is equally delighted to be revisiting the role she made her own, as the sexy French waitress, and comments, “I’m thrilled to be working alongside Jeffrey and Calibre Productions in this brand new tour.  ‘Allo ‘Allo is like an old friend to me, the writing is truly fantastic, with timeless appeal”.

“Jeffrey is an extremely talented and versatile actor and I think he’ll make an excellent Rene.  We recently worked together on-stage and I’m looking forward to the opportunity of working with him once more.”

The tour follows a special one-off episode marking the 25th anniversary of the show released last year, entitled ‘The Return of ‘Allo, ‘Allo’ in which several of the original cast, including Vicki, were reunited to perform their roles. For Vicki this was both an exciting and emotional experience, “I don’t think I’ll ever forget the reception we received, it was amazing.  Being on the set again, in front of a live audience, gave me goose-bumps, it was as if I’d never been away and we all fell straight back into character.”

Co-writer Jeremy Lloyd continues, “Both David and I are pleased to be working with theatre impresario Ed O’Driscoll on the latest stage adaptation of the show.  We had our first clue of its impending success when the show opened at Birmingham’s Alexandra Theatre and were amazed to find the audience had dressed for the occasion as French maids, Resistance girls and Herr Flick’s German generals - such a compliment to some much-loved characters.  The rest is history and the show’s success has continued around the world, as far as Australia and New Zealand.”

‘ALLO ‘ALLO is scheduled to tour 13 venues across the country with further dates pending from the end of August 08.
