25.7, 20.8, 15.5, 10.8 or 5.4ml from Aldingham Village Hall, Scales (GR SD269725) This little known area of South Lakes Peninsula is easily accessible from M6 junction 36 via the A590 to Ulverston. This low level walk visits many interesting places including a Quaker burial ground, the shortest, deepest & widest British canal, Hoad Hill monument (a replica lighthouse), the lovely market town of Ulverston, Swarthmoor Hall, then via the Cistercian Way through pretty villages to Furness Abbey & Gleaston Mill & Castle. Maps: OL6 (long routes have small section on OL7). Start: long routes 08.30; short routes 09.30. Entry: in advance long/short routes £8/£5; OTD all +£3 incl cert for all finishers, badge for sale £1.50. Limit 250. Sorry no dogs. Please park as directed & do not obstruct local roads. This event is being held in conjunction with Motor Neurone Disease Awareness week & their ''Walk to D’feet MND'' campaign. All profits from the event will be donated to the MND Association.
